FTX fund is back. An unexpected winfall.

Dear all, A few years ago, the price of old Luna cryptocurrency due to the mismanagement of its founder collapsed rapidly. From $80 plus dollars, it dropped to several cents. I remembered that it was in the middle of the night when it happened. Jeremy happened to be awake at the same time. Wasted no time, we developed the speculation strategies and put it into action. Over the duration of 2 days, we managed to gain a few thousand dollars.  We stopped after our crypto platform which had low risk appetite and terrible reaction time, decided to suspend all Luna trading. By then, we had already left with a couple of millions Luna with all our profits in hard cash.  This is where the direction of Jeremy and my own split. I searched for another platform in hope that I could go in another round of speculation. To do that I had targeted two platform for the speculation, FTX or Crypto.com. In the end I chosen FTX as my country sovereign fund invested in the platform as well. Fast forwa...

Into the second month of the Income fund management

Dear all,  With the dividends received in January, I was told that it will take about a month to register my interest to increase my investment by $1,200. By the time, I was given the clearance to make payment, easily a month is over. But I guess that I have no choice given how the dividends all came in at different time period. Unless based on the declaration, I make a move to reinvest these dividends back to their pots. Of course, I can choose the reinvestment option instead of giving cash dividend but I would not be able to know how much dividends I am given.  At this point, I will wait and see how I could push for the reinvestment in a more efficient manner.    As the FTX settlement against the clients coming to a close soon (A surprise to me as I thought I could never see the amount again), as a client of FTX, me too are able to get my hands on the settlement. While it is about $2K plus USD, I am still glad to get my hands on these assets. My original plan was t...

Consolidation and review of dividends received from Jan 2025

Image
Dear all,  This is the second month which I am fully committed to the investment of Income funds. As a newbie, I am very confused over the way income was recognized. The key issue was due to the difference in the date between the dividend was declared vs the date the dividend reached the bank. It could take a week or even two weeks for these dividends to reach your bank account.  I revised my dividend income amount for January 2025. Below is my dividend for both GreatLink Multi-Sector Income Fund and US Income Fund. GreatLink Multi-Sector Income Fund GreatLink US Income and Growth Fund   On total, for the month of January, I received $1,038.87. It was a very decent turn. Since I do not need the dividend for the month, I will likely to reinvest these into the Income Funds again. What I am missing here is the dividend from SYFE Pimco Income Fund. The reason being that I had less than $5,000 in the account in the month of January and the only option was automatic reinv...

Happy Chinese New Year 2025

Image
Dear all,  Happy Lunar Chinese New Year to all. My hope for that everyone in the year of snake is to stay healthy, go for annual medical checkup if possible (I know many of you are scare but having an annual checkup help to tackle any medical problem when they are still small and manageable) and also to have a happy life. I had my reunion dinner on 28 Jan 2025 in a Teochew restaurant at 8.30pm. My poor memory told me that it was 8pm. So we were early for an hour. The food was not that fantastic and we paid $1,400 for it. Not a good deal if you asked me.  My first day of Lunar Chinese New Year was spend between visiting my in laws and my parents. It was a worthwhile time to spend time with parents from both sides. On the second day of the Lunar Chinese New Year, we went to a buffet restaurant called Embu which was the former Melt World Cafe. The place was re-done and rename. I was pleased to learn that the food quality was way better than before. While it is more expensiv...

My 45th birthday and an update on my monthly individend.

Hi my friends,  I just realised that I had been everywhere in the blog. I am not a professional blogger or I am selling anything so I do not think about what I want to post till I am right in front of the computer. Perhaps I should do better planning in the days ahead.  Talking about planning. I think I should set targets but let me sit on it first. My Syfe Pimco Fund was transferred from other Syfe accounts and was fully invested. It seemed to take a week from the transfer of the fund to the purchase of the units in Syfe. To gain monthly dividends payout from the Pimco fund, I would need to invest at least $5,000 into it. Plus the $570 fund invested this week, I had invested about $4,200 into the fund. Yet to see or hear anything about the dividend yet. I will be pushing another $1,000 into the account so that I could get to see the cash dividends. On another hand, for both my income funds which I invested through GE, I had received a grand total of $1,037 dollars ($517 for o...

All 4 pillars of passive incomes activated

Image
Hi everyone,  My Greatlink funds was successfully funded. Off hand, the funds took 3% as bid offer spread off my total deposits. Every deposits will ended up having this charges. I would still have to pay another 1.5% fund charges and 0.22% custodian fees to the fund managers. It is really expensive for our retirement. Despite of the charges, I would still think that it is worth it to pay the charges than to invest on my own only for the charges to be cheap but I am losing 80% of my tiny net-worth over some investment mistakes.  ' SYFE is giving me another set of headache. Whenever I deposit my fund, it would take a week to execute the buy. Tracking if the fund reached and if the trade had been executed is painful. It is not great to see that there are still a component in cash that is pending execution. I am contemplating whether to do weekly new fund transfer or to do a monthly one. Right now, I will prefer to do a weekly fund transfer than a monthly transfer in view o...

Building the third and fourth pillars of monthly passive incomes.

Image
As per the last post, I decided to invest in Greatlink Multi-Sector and US Income & Growth fund. These were the two long term funds that provide monthly payouts which I plan to keep till the day I expired. I knew that these would not be enough for me if I want to retire early. After the discussion with  my insurance agent, I turned to one of his three proposals and made some changes. He proposed a saving plan, a monthly endowment and a monthly pay out fund. I decided to sign up for two monthly pay-out funds and a monthly endowment plan. I was planning to use one of the monthly payouts to fund the monthly endowment plan for 15 years. Once the monthly endowment plan matures, I will switch it to a fund that provide monthly payout. That would be my fourth source of monthly payouts (Even through I list this ahead of my third source of monthly payouts, it will only be activated when I am in my 62 years old). If I retired there and then, I would have beat my own retirement goal of 65 ...
