Rambling of an uncle Part 1 - Racism is not okay especially when it came from a teacher
Dear all,
For the past few weeks, there was a school bullying case whereby a female student from a migrant family was been physically and verbally abused by three male classmates. Somehow, they were supposed to settle this after school with the parents of both sides being called in.
Somehow, one of the male students managed to get the number of the girl's mother, made multiple prank calls, and even left a death threat note to the mother. The incident escalated and the three male students were suspended. I think the one made the death threat call was caned in school. I think in a way justice is served.
I hope this will be a closure to the incident. I have incident with school bullying as well. Instead of student vs student, for my case it was a teacher bullying a student. In this case me. I cannot remember what her name was. She was a temporarily English teacher who was a race different from mine. By nature, she was not a pleasant person, loved to make nasty remarks to her students. Throughout her stint in my school, I do not think anyone would really like her.
It was in her class that I realized that I forgotten my foolscap. Damn, I turned to the right and request for a piece from my friend so that I can copied the information on the blackboard. Then, a chalk flew towards me and suddenly I see her roaring at me, "Hey China man, stop talking." I was like "I am borrowing foolscap." "Off, out you go..." She roared again.
So I went out towards the canteen and buy myself a drink and allowed myself to relax while waiting for her class to finish.
Now thinking back, I realised that I had been bullied by my teacher. A lady in her 30s throwing out racial slur on a 15 years old student. Back then, complain against teacher was unheard of, the principal would likely defend her. Unlike today if a teacher dare to make such comments, the school and the teacher will face with a huge backslash.
